Green Lantern VS The Hulk

Biography –

Harold “Hal” Jordan was a second-generation test pilot, having followed in the footsteps of his father. He was given the power ring and battery (lantern) by a dying alien named Abin Sur, whose spaceship crashed on Earth. Abin Sur used his ring to seek out an individual who was “utterly honest and born without fear” to take his place as a member of the corps. Jordan, as Green Lantern, became a founding member of the Justice League of America and as of the mid-2000s is one of the two active-duty Lanterns in Earth’s sector of space.

Powers –

The ring is powered by willpower. It grants them the power of flight and that all its effects are accompanied by a green light. It is capable of shrinking objects to turning people invisible.

The signature power of all Green Lanterns is the ability to conjure “constructs:” solid green objects that the Green Lantern can control telekinetically. These can be anything, such as a disembodied fist to beat a foe, a shield to block an attack, a sword to cut a rope, or chains to bind a prisoner. Whatever their shape or size, these constructs are always pure green in color, unless a Lantern is skillful enough to know how to change the EM spectrum the construct emits. Hal Jordan has shown the ability to have a construct emit kryptonite radiation under Batman’s guidance.

The rings of the Green Lantern Corps allow their bearers to travel very quickly across interstellar distances, fast enough that they can efficiently patrol the universe. They allow the wearer to survive in virtually any environment, and also remove the need to eat, sleep and pass waste. The rings can translate practically any language in the universe. They possess powerful sensors that can identify and analyze objects. Lanterns are granted full access to all Guardian knowledge by their rings through the Book of Oa.

A noteworthy power the rings do not have is the ability to automatically heal injuries, though they can provide shielding. If the Green Lantern happens to be a skilled physician, then the ring can be invaluable as it can conjure any conceivable medical tool, but it cannot do much for a Lantern who lacks medical expertise. When Hal Jordan breaks his arm, the best he can do is conjure up a cast. This is further extended into an ability to replace large sections of one’s injured body with constructs, but this too requires detailed biological knowledge of one’s body and concentration enough to prolong the construct.

The effectiveness of the ring is tied to the wearer’s willpower. A Green Lantern with strong willpower will beat a weaker-willed Lantern in a duel. Anything which weakens the Green Lantern’s mind, such as a telepathic attack, may render his ring useless.

Biography-

The child of an abusive father, Bruce Banner grew up shy and introverted, yet a scientific genius. As a young man, thanks to his standout work in the field of nuclear physics, he attracted the attention of the U.S. Army who wanted to adapt his theories for weaponry. Banner resisted such notions, but failed attempts at landing steady work convinced him to accept a position at a federal nuclear research facility at a missile base in the New Mexico desert. At the base, Banner was befriended by Betty Ross, daughter of General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, a man who took an instant disliking to the diminutive, passive scientist. While at the base, Banner began to develop and build a bomb that utilized a high concentration of gamma radiation, a project of high interest to an undercover foreign agent stationed there. When a teenager named Rick Jones wandered onto the test field just as Banner started the countdown for the gamma bomb’s initial test detonation, the scientist rushed out to the area to warn Jones, but the foreign agent purposefully continued the test. The bomb exploded, bathing Bruce Banner in its radiation. Incredibly, he survived the detonation, but later in the evening transformed into a large, grey, man-like monstrosity dubbed a “hulk” by one of the base’s soldiers. Only Rick Jones witnessed the transformation, and perhaps out of a feeling of guilt over Banner’s exposure to the gamma rays shepherded the creature to a place of safety until it changed back into the scientist. Once realizing what had occurred, Banner accepted Jones’ help and began to work on a cure for his incredible situation in secret, but the Hulk—now with green skin, rather than grey—continued to emerge and quickly earned the enmity of General Ross. The savage Green Hulk represented Banner’s repressed childhood rage and aggression and the Grey Hulk represented Banner’s repressed selfish desires and urges. Banner’s transformations are usually triggered by adrenaline rushes when he becomes anxious, nervous, or angry, which lead to similar feelings in the Hulk.

Powers-

Bruce Banner’s intelligence has made him one of the world’s leading authorities on nuclear physics, as well as other related disciplines. He possesses a genius-level intellect & is an expert in multiple scientific fields, particularly the studies of physics & radiation.

The Hulk’s strength remains at the top level of all super human beings on Earth and increases exponentially as his anger grows. This strength grants him not only upper body prowess, but also the ability to leap great distances and land without harm to himself. The hulk also has a healing factor.

The Hulk’s skin is nearly impenetrable and his lung capacity allows for long periods of submersion in water, exposure to many forms of gases, and even to temporary survival in the airless vacuum of outer space.

The Hulk can slam his hands together to create a large thunderclap-type concussive force

The Hulk is immune to all known Earth-based diseases. He can operate under intense conditions for extended periods of time due to his body not developing fatigue toxins quickly.

The Hulk has shown an ability to resist mind control.

The Hulk’s skin allows him protection from most modern artillery such as bullets, grenades, shells, and rockets. He can withstand concussive blasts, impacts from super-powered villians, and extreme high and low temperatures. He has withstood the vacuum of deep space a multitude of times along with the huge pressure of the ocean floor.

  1. This would be a close match, but I’ll go with green lantern on this one. The ability to do and create almost anything telekinetically is on his side big time, making him one of the strongest superheroes ever.
